Of all the hills that make up the Lancashire uplands Pendle, with its accompanying series of ridges and hills stands singularly apart from the greater mass of high moorland, having a total geological length of 24 miles.

Pendle has achieved the status of a mythic ‘Hill of Visions '. To many it is this mythic nature of the range that I wish to explore within this series of rambles along with what the Hill has stood witness to since the last glacial retreat, ice melt and subsequent forming of the landscape template we know and hold dear today.

We shall explore in full through the 30 rambles presented in a series of 3 volumes.
